Pond UV Filter Clarifier Light and UV Pressurized Filters
The use of a Pond UV Clarifier or Sterilizer Light can reduce or eliminate the algae blooms present in the water. A Pond UV is often called a Pond UV Filter but in reality it does not perform any filtration action. The Pond UV Clarifier or Sterilizer bombards water passing thru it with UV light rays which alter the cells of the algae and prevent them from reproducing.
A Pond UV Light is best used in combination with a pond bacteria treatment that will absorb the excess nutrients left behind in the pond from dead algae. This will reduce the food supply available to the next generation of algae.
NOTES on UV use:
-
1. Place the Pond UV Sterilizer unit intake away from where the water will be discharged. You do not want the unit treating the same small section of water over and over.
-
2. Use a pump that is equal to or smaller than the maximum recommended flow for the Pond UV Light. The slower the water goes thru the UV Sterilizer the more effective the treatment will be.
-
3. A UV bulb should be changed every season as the effectiveness will diminish before the light burns out.
-
4. On Submersible Pond UV Lights should be placed in the water. Non submersible units must be placed outside of the pond.
